ESB announces price increase for EV public charging

At ESB, we strive to keep our prices as low and as competitive as possible. However, due to the continued considerable increases in the wholesale cost of electricity in Ireland, as well as in Europe, we need to increase the price of charging across the network in order to maintain our level of service.

The change will come into effect on 20th December.

What are the prices?

Please see the table below for full view of our new prices.

 PAYGMembership
Standard Charging (<22kW, €/kWh)€0.563 €0.509
Fast Charging (50kW, €/kWh) €0.647€0.586
High Power€0.682€0.617
Monthly SubscriptionNone€4.79

The unit rate for drivers on Fleet charging plans will also change to €0.484 cent per kWh for standard, €0.557 cent per kWh for fast and €0.586 cent for high power.

There is no change to the overstay fee or membership subscription.

Do drivers need to do anything?

If you are already signed up to use ESB’s public EV charging network, you do not need to do anything – the new rates will be displayed on the ecar Connect app and you can continue to charge as normal.

If you have not signed up to an ESB PAYG or Membership plan, we encourage you to do so here.

If you are already signed up but wish to change your price plan, please contact us via our details below.
