The ESB “Great” Christmas Concert 2015 at the National Concert Hall

On Wednesday December 2rd 2015 at 8pm, the choirs of Dublin Choral Foundation, The Lassus Scholars and Piccolo Lasso will present The ESB “Great” Christmas Concert 2015 at the National Concert Hall.

Proudly sponsored by ESB, the Great Christmas Concert celebrates the continued success of Ireland’s foremost musical festival, Feis Ceoil, founded in 1897.

On this special occasion The Lassus Scholars and Piccolo Lasso, with conductor Dr. Ite O’Donovan, will be joined by the Orlando Chamber Orchestra, under leader Gillian Williams. The concert will feature ESB Feis Ceoil Prize-winners 2015, Cian Flynn (Clarinet), who began his musical training as a member of Piccolo Lasso, and Caoime Glavin (French Horn).

Guest soloist on the night is internationally acclaimed mezzo soprano Imelda Drumm, herself a past ESB Feis Ceoil Prize winner. Imelda has won the hearts of audiences and critics alike over the course of her substantial 25-year operatic singing career. During this time, she has forged strong links with Glyndebourne Opera, Welsh National Opera, Opera Ireland, Wide Open Opera, Lyric Opera and Opera Theatre Company, singing numerous principal roles, performing with some of the world’s most renowned singers, including Carlo Rizzi and Bryn Terfel, and working with conductors such as Sir Charles Mackerras and Vladimir Jurowski. Her programme at the National Concert Hall includes such favourites as Gluck’s ‘Che faro senza Euridice’, Verdi’s dramatic ‘O don fatale’ (from Don Carlo) and Mascagni’s Ave Maria (Intermezzo).

The festive evening of choral Christmas favourites will be completed by audience participation in the Carols and a chance to sing-a-long in the “Hallelujah Chorus”.

Tickets priced €12-€30 are available from the NCH Box Office — www.nch.ie or 01 4170000.

This popular family event, now in its 20th year, is no ordinary concert.

It’s an occasion not to be missed!
