ESB lights up Merrion Square in fun and festive evening
Christmas under way in Georgian Quarter
ESB turned on the Christmas lights in Dublin’s Merrion Square this evening (Tuesday 22 November) in an event that marks the beginning of Christmas for the residents and businesses on the square.
Sponsored by ESB, the lights were turned on by Dublin City Councillor, Dermot Lacey, and ESB Executive Director, Group People and Sustainability, Pat Naughton.
Councillor Lacey said, “It was a genuine pleasure to be involved in lighting up this wonderful corner of the city for Christmas. The ceremony this evening reflects the status of Merrion Square as a vibrant and important part of our city, both commercially and culturally. I wish to commend the sterling efforts of Dublin City Council, ESB and the Merrion Square Innovation Network for a project which has lit up Merrion Square Park for the festive season.”
Speaking at the event, Pat Naughton, Executive Director, Group People and Sustainability, ESB said: “I am delighted to be here this evening to celebrate the switching on of this year’s Merrion Square Christmas Lights, in the presence of so many of our neighbours and friends from the area. We are long-standing residents, having had our headquarters on Merrion Square since 1928. Moves to redevelop ESB Head Office into an innovative, sustainable landmark building will commence in the spring, and we look forward to remaining a valued member of the Merrion Square community long into the future.”
