Electric Ireland Named One of Ireland’s Best Workplaces 2017

28 February 2017

Electric Ireland has been officially recognised as one of the Best Workplaces in Ireland in 2017. Announced at the Great Place to Work Best Workplaces in Ireland awards in Dublin’s Clayton Hotel last week, this is Electric Ireland’s first time entering the competition. Recognition is based on employee feedback and an assessment of policies and practices.

With Electric Ireland entering the awards in the large category (251 or more staff), employees at Ireland’s Best Workplaces share many traits, including a high level of confidence, and a workforce that is engaged and focused on the task at hand, eager to offer their contribution to future successes.

Electric Ireland Best Place to Work

Paul Stapleton, General Manager, Electric Ireland, said: "Electric Ireland strives to be a great workplace because such an environment is key to us delivering for our customers, year after year. We will aim to continue to be recognised as a great place to work, which will help us to provide more sustainable and affordable energy solutions for the benefit of all our customers in Ireland & Northern Ireland."

Electric Ireland prides itself on being customer focused, and aims always to provide simple energy solutions and great service to make life better for all its customers. Efforts like the Stay Happy campaign, where Electric Ireland gives long term savings of 8.5% each year on gas and electricity bills, is one of a number of ways Electric Ireland aims to ensure consumer satisfaction.

In 2017, Great Place to Work Ireland celebrates 15 years of recognising great workplaces through the publication of their Best Workplaces in Ireland lists, and the number of high-trust workplaces in Ireland carries on increasing an indication that organisations are continuing to discover the business benefits of developing a culture where all employees are empowered to do their best work.

About Great Place to Work and the Assessment Process

Great Place to Work Ireland is part of a global network of culture consultants, with offices in 48 countries using an established methodology to publish lists at country, regional, and global levels. The best known of these is the Fortune 100 list of Best Companies to Work For in the United States.

The key defining feature of a great workplace is the level of trust that exists within it. From an employee’s viewpoint, the definition of a great workplace is one where you trust the people you work with, you have great pride in what you do, and you enjoy the people you work with. The Great Place to Work Institute assesses the policies and practices in place in organisations under nine key areas: Inspiring, Speaking, Listening, Caring, Developing, Thanking, Hiring, Celebrating, and Sharing. They then benchmark these practices against other organisations in that country. The second key component of the assessment is an anonymous Trust Index survey that gathers the perceptions of employees under five dimensions: Credibility, Respect, Fairness, Pride, and Camaraderie. Finally, there is an in-depth qualitative analysis of open ended comments from employees.
