ESB Feis Ceoil Gala Concert celebrating young classical energy

Over 180 competitions were held this year at the ESB Feis Ceoil, Ireland’s premier classical music competition, which ran from 27 March to 7 April this year at the RDS.

The annual Gala Concert - to take place at 7:30 pm on Wednesday 26 April - will see the National Concert Hall stage filled with the sound of young Irish musicians playing violin, piano, cello, trumpet and singing, with brilliant music from choirs and orchestras. The concert will feature a selection of exceptional young musicians who were awarded prizes at this year's competitions, including:

  • Choir of the Year St. Brigid's NS Castleknock
  • Senior Chamber Music winners, string quartet Sunrise Quartet
  • Aileen Gore winner,cellist Sinéad O'Halloran
  • Dramatic Cup winner, Bass Baritone Robert McAllister
  • Patricia Read Cup winner, pianist Tiffany Qiu
  • Rhoda Coghill winners violinist Sidi Bao and pianist Aidan Chan
  • Orchestra winners Loreto Kilkenny
  • Senior Brass Recital winner, trumpeter John Kerr
  • Gervase Elwes Cup winner, Soprano Sarah Brady

Over half a million musicians have competed in Ireland’s premier classical music competition since it began in 1896, with past competitors including James Joyce and Count John McCormack and more recently, John O’Conor, Finghin Collins, Regina Nathan, Cara O’Sullivan and Céline Byrne.
