The 2020s will be the decade for digital and decarbonised electrification. In May, leading EU energy players, policymakers, CEOs, Ministers, innovators and thought leaders will come together to discuss and debate the Electric Decade at the Eurelectric Power Summit 2021.
The time is now for an accelerated uptake of clean electricity across all sectors; delivering carbon emission reductions, economic recovery, clean air and new sustainable jobs.
This is a huge 10-year opportunity: An Electric Decade.
The opportunities and challenges that will define this Electric Decade will be discussed and dissected during the virtual Eurelectric Power Summit 2021 event, from May 25 to 28.
Pat O’Doherty, Chief Executive of ESB and President of Eurelectric, will welcome more than 3,000 conference attendees to the online event which will be broadcast from three European studios including Dublin, Ireland.
“The Eurelectric Power Summit is the key forum for sharing expertise and ideas among the European electricity sector, particularly as we face into one of the most transformative periods in our history,” said O’Doherty. “Here in Ireland, we have the highest share of onshore wind on our system in the world and have ambitious plans to generate 70% of our electricity from renewable sources by 2030, along with the widespread electrification of transport and heating. I am very much looking forward to discussing some of our strategies and insights with other industry leaders over the course of the Summit.”
Some of the key topics that will be discussed include:
24/7 Carbon Free Energy – Accelerating grid decarbonisation through corporate energy procurement strategies
New renewable technologies
EU ETS Reform
Market designs for investments
Flexibility – From theory to action
DSOs – Strengthening the backbone of the EU power system
Hydrogen
