ESB Networks are aware of a number of thefts recently of overhead lines from between poles on the live electricity network. There are ongoing Garda investigations into this criminal activity and ESB Networks are co-operating with these investigations.
ESB Networks are warning the perpetrators that this is very dangerous activity with potentially fatal consequences. We urge that this activity cease immediately.
Interference with the power network creates a serious risk to the general public and causes inconvenience to customers by interrupting their electricity supply.
The public have an important part to play in helping put a stop to this type of theft. It is vital that if the public see any suspicious people or vehicles anywhere near electricity lines that they contact An Garda Síochána and ESB Networks at 1850 372 999 as a matter of urgency.
