Today, Electric Ireland announced the second act in its Throwback Stage line-up at Electric Picnic, the voice of M People, Heather Small, one of the greatest and most distinctive soul/pop voices of the last thirty years.
As Part of M People, Heather became one of the most iconic British voices of the decade, with enduring classics such as 'Moving On Up', 'One Night In Heaven' and 'Search For The Hero’ acting as the soundtrack for the 90’s. The group saw equal critical success, winning the Best British Dance Act Award at the Brits in 1994 and 1995, as well as a Mercury Music Prize.
Heather has since garnered impressive solo acclaim with her two albums. The title track of her 'Proud' album has gone on to become the a multi-purpose anthem for the likes of The London Olympics and the Oprah Winfrey Show.
Heather will join legendary Irish girl band B*witched as part of Electric Ireland’s Throwback Stage at Electric Picnic this year with more acts still to be announced.
Speaking of the announcement, Heather said: “There’s no sell-by date to great music. Performing live is what I love to do so I’m delighted and honoured to have the opportunity to play our most popular songs once again. We have some surprises in store for the crowd, so make sure to come throw back at the Electric Ireland stage on Saturday.”
The Throwback Stage has been home to many widely acclaimed acts spanning music's most influential decades. In the past, Electric Ireland has brought back pop legends 5ive, S Club Party, Ace of Base, Bonnie Tyler, 2 Unlimited, The Vengaboys and Bananarama – to name just a few. B*witched and Heather Small were the first acts announced for this year's Electric Ireland Throwback Stage at Electric Picnic 2018 but there’s lots more line-up news to come.
