What is it and why is ESB involved?
At ESB, we are undertaking a transformative drive to achieve Net Zero by 2040. To achieve this, the electricity industry will have to play an essential role so transformative changes, many of which are already underway, must be made. So, in partnership with The Institute of International & European Affairs (IIEA), we are hosting a one-day conference ‘ACCELERATE: The Transition to a Net Zero Future’ on Friday, 26th April 2024 to learn more from some of the brightest minds about how best to deliver what is required for a clean energy future as many of the leading players in the industry in Ireland and from across the globe come together at the Dublin Royal Convention Centre.
We are doing this for the benefit of across society because ESB, and the electricity sector, lies at the core of the clean energy transformation. The urgent and focused action we are taking to achieve net zero emissions by 2040 must be grounded and supported by the latest developments and most innovative ideas happening across the world. This will then allow us to put in place the infrastructure and services to enable our customers and broader society to live more sustainable lives.
This is a continuation of the ACCELERATE conference by ESB and the IIEA, the last of which (pictured above) took place in 2022.
On the day
The one-day conference will explore Ireland’s progress towards a clean energy future by looking at developments and innovations that will be key to accelerating the transition to net zero while addressing the challenges facing Ireland, Europe and beyond.
To provide clean power to people worldwide, electricity must deliver, this will significantly help to decarbonise transportation, buildings, and industry by eliminating carbon and other harmful greenhouse gas emissions from these sectors.
There is so much happening in this space and attendees will hear from high-level expert panels and speakers from academia, industry, and the world of energy regulation who will discuss the challenges, the possibilities, and the importance of a net zero if we are to protect the planet in the face of climate change.
