ESB Telecoms and Aurora Telecom announce new partnership

We are excited to announce a commercial agreement with Aurora Telecom. This partnership allows both companies to seamlessly integrate and access each other's fibre networks, providing our customers with unprecedented resilience, extended reach, and enabling us to deliver even more value to our end users.

Customer Centric Approach

Traditionally, telecommunication networks were built for internal use. However, this agreement with Aurora Telecom presents an excellent opportunity for both organisations to leverage our combined extensive network. This will benefit our customers by reducing the need for new infrastructure development and enable the telecommunications industry to expand its services to a broader range of end users.

The integration of ESB Telecoms fibre networks with Aurora Telecom means we can offer more robust and flexible connectivity solutions to our customers.

Commitment to Sustainability

ESB Telecoms, aligning with ESB's net zero by 2040 strategy, is committed to providing sustainable services to meet the increasing demand for data and connectivity.

Reducing the need for new infrastructure developments will have a significant and positive impact on the environment and for the local communities we work in. By minimising the need for additional infrastructure, we are contributing to lowering our carbon footprint and this commitment to sustainability is a core principle that guides our operations and strategic decisions. By collaborating with Aurora Telecom, we are reinforcing this commitment, demonstrating that it is possible to achieve business growth while maintaining a strong focus on sustainability and community well-being.

Key Benefits of the Partnership

  • Enhanced Resilience: The collaboration ensures a more secure and robust fibre network  by providing consistent connectivity.

  • Extended Reach: Customers will benefit from new route options over the integrated networks, allowing greater access and improved service availability.

  • Efficiency and Affordability: By minimising the need for new infrastructure, the partnership makes it more efficient and affordable to deliver high-quality services.

  • Sustainable Development: Both organisations are committed to sustainability, aligning with their parent companies' strategies and reducing the environmental impact of civil works.

Sylvester Cullen, Sales and Marketing Manager with ESB Telecoms, remarked:

"This new commercial agreement allows us to leverage our combined infrastructure, giving customers access to two of the largest fibre networks in Ireland. It will reduce the need for new infrastructure, making service delivery more efficient and affordable. This partnership aligns with ESB's vision and commitment to Net Zero by 2040. By collaborating with Aurora Telecom, we achieve greater efficiency and sustainability, proving we are better together."

James Freeman, Fibre Engineering Design Manager at Aurora Telecom, added:

“ We are excited about this new agreement, as Aurora Telecom and ESB Telecoms will now be able to facilitate new route options for customers over our combined extensive networks, which are provided over a secure and resilient fibre backbone. This agreement aligns with the sustainability strategy of our parent organisation, Gas Networks Ireland. We know that delivering sustainable services is extremely important to our customers as the need for data and connectivity continues to grow. This partnership will help both organisations reduce the requirement for new civil works that could have a negative impact on the environment and local communities.”
