Technology: Combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT)

 

Carrington power station was built on a brownfield site near Manchester, close to the Manchester Ship Canal and the River Mersey. Previously, the site hosted a coal-fired station. The 884MW combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) plant is one of the most efficient thermal plants on the UK energy system and generates enough electricity to power over one million homes and businesses.
