In the quest for sustainable energy solutions, solar photovoltaic (PV) technology has emerged as a game-changer, especially for large businesses. With its ability to harness the power of the sun and convert it into clean, renewable electricity, solar PV offers significant advantages for companies seeking to reduce their carbon footprint, lower energy costs, and enhance their green credentials.
ESB’s Smart Energy Services are at the forefront of supporting businesses on their decarbonisation journey, delivering significant projects over the last nine months.
1. Powering one of Ireland’s Largest Solar Projects at MSD
We recently delivered one of Ireland's largest ground mount solar projects in partnership with MSD, a global pharmaceutical company. The project involved the installation of a 7.3MW ground-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) array. This solar infrastructure is estimated to generate approximately 7.9GWh of clean, renewable electricity annually, meeting up to 20% of the energy requirements of MSD's site in Ballydine, Co Tipperary. See more here.
2. Solar Power in Retail
We partnered with the Pavilions Shopping Centre in Dublin to deploy a 330kWp rooftop solar PV installation. This project, once complete this year, is expected to be one of the largest retail solar installations in Ireland. By harnessing solar energy, the Pavilions Shopping Centre demonstrates its dedication to clean, renewable power sources.
3. Dew Valley's Stride Towards Energy Independence
We signed a partnership agreement with Dew Valley for a 7.77MWp ground-mounted solar PV system. The project, set for completion in September, will enable Dew Valley to consume 100% of the energy produced by the solar array. By offsetting 1,951,947kg of CO2 emissions annually, Dew Valley showcases its commitment to sustainability and contributes to Ireland's renewable energy goals.
4. Carey Glass: Pioneering the Solar Rooftop Revolution
We will complete Ireland's largest solar rooftop project for Carey Glass in Co Tipperary this summer. The 2.7MW roof mounted solar PV array will support the site in significantly reducing its carbon footprint, in line with Carey Glass’s ambitious climate goals. It is estimated that the system will generate approximately 2.4GWh of clean renewable electricity, ensuring up to 13% of the site’s energy requirements will come from renewable energy sources.
With more exciting solar projects in the pipeline, such as Ireland’s first Carport Solar PV, ESB’s Smart Energy Services are continuing to help businesses transform their energy practices. Talk to one of our experts to see how we can help your business.
