ESB has a presence in every community in Ireland and we believe we have a vital part to play in supporting these communities to build a Brighter Future and help them reach their full potential.
Education, Inclusion and Employment
ESB is committed to supporting communities through programmes that enhance access to education, inclusion and employment. We recognise the significant benefit that these programmes can bring in addressing poverty, supporting Ireland’s economy and in supporting the problem solvers and innovators needed to address societies biggest challenges.

The €250,000 ESB Brighter Future Arts Fund fund, delivered in partnership with Business to Arts, supports artists working with organisations on creative arts project to engage their communities in a positive way around climate change, sustainability, and the energy transition on the path to a net zero future. Five projects spanning theatre, poetry, music, dance, sculpture, gardening, visual arts and soundscapes were selected to receive funding.

To support our vision of a net zero future for Ireland, we collaborate with others to bring world class thinking to policy discussions with a commitment to helping individuals and communities benefit from the energy transition.

ESB has partnered with the Institute for International and European Affairs (IIEA) to create the ESB Rethink Energy Lecture Series, tapping into expert thought leadership from around the globe to contribute to policy discussions on key energy issues and enrich public debate on Ireland’s transition to a zero-carbon energy future. In 2022, ESB and the IIEA co-hosted an international energy conference entitled “Accelerate: The Transition to a Zero Carbon Future”. Sessions from the conference can be viewed here.

At ESB, we recognise that achieving a transition to a net zero society can only occur through responsible development which includes genuine community engagement. We want our wind farm investments to deliver long term social, economic and environmental benefits for everyone.
The wind farm community benefit funds are available to support projects that are aligned with local needs and opportunities such as the purchase of equipment, building or refurbishment work.
Approximately €1million is awarded annually via our nominated grant making organisations.
